QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Whereare these tours? The tours are run near Aberfeldy and the Woods Point district of Gippsland. Aberfeldy is only about 1 hour north of Moe.
Who can do this tour? This tour is for all to enjoy. You don’t have to be experienced. All age groups are welcome, except for the Loch Fyne Tour. Only a little 4WD experience necessary, but a 4wd or AWD vehicle is required.
What do you need to bring? You must have a 4WD or an AWD vehicle. Much of the terrain is easy 4wd. You must bring all your own camping gear and food. Change of shoes may be essential in case you get wet feet. Please also bring a good torch. Please wear walking boots, blundstones or the like, "do not wear sneakers"
Will there be an experienced Geologist on these tours? Yes, Dr. Peter Jackson will be our tour guide. Peter has over 35 years experience in geology and accredited with many qualifications, Peter has great knowledge of mines in this area as well. We will visiting and entering actual mines worked in the 1800's, as well as a brief history and ghost town tour of the area.
What do we actually get for our money? Not only do you get a guided tour by an experienced geologist into real mines, but you also get shown many historical sites. Old hotels, graves, cemeteries, townships, etc. Many sites are only known to me. I have been researching and doing expedition work in this region for more than 18 years and have now found over 400 historical sites.
Can we purchase additional maps and books at discounted prices? Yes, maps and books on the area can be purchased on the tour, a catalogue will be made available for you. I have published over 10 books on the area and have also produced a series of maps to.
